The 16th Annual Paraeducator Conference is coming up April 10-12, 2013 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California. Attached is a registration brochure offering a tentative list of classes available to attendees.

While this cutting-edge conference has always been open to anyone interested, classes were specifically designed around our paraeducators. This year, for the first time, we have extended an invitation to all CSEA members/school employees in theOffice/Clerical classification. School secretaries and other clerical staff interact with students and parents on a daily basis. These key staff members often meet kids in their most challenging moments when they are sent to the office.

The Para Conference provides in-depth workshops on dealing with students of varying behavior levels, communication skills and opportunities, bullying and autism (including Asperger Syndrome), dealing with at-risk youth, crisis management, ergonomics training, and dealing with difficult people, among many other topics.

There are several potential funding resources available to districts to sponsor attendance; please check with your Classified Personnel Department to explore options.

Conference registration fee is $75 per person. The attached brochure (attachment 1) mentions all the information necessary to make your arrangements, including how to make your  hotel reservation .  Conference information can also be found at www.csea.com/paraconference.

If you have any further questions, please contact Leslie Snow at lsnow@csea.comor (800) 632-2128, ext. 1240.
