Laughter is one of the most common and pleasant opportunities to socialize and connect with people. Laughing is interactive; it takes two or more people to share such a great social moment. Relationships can develop easily and naturally in such a relaxed context.

We have agreed before that individuals with autism are just like anybody else, have emotions and feelings, but they’ve got their own way to express themselves. One of the most important traits of autism is poor or lack of social and communication skills. It would be great if they learned to communicate and socialize through laughters. Laughter is innate, instictive, and intuitive. It doesn’t need any processing or refining. Laughters are part of human’s nature. It is a great way to express and channel one’s emotions, while it is much harder to do in a different context.

Laughter is a mood booster, it helps spectrum population to destress and become calmer and more positive. Laughter doesn’t require speech, it is an unspoken language at any age. It is a great therapy for the body, mind, and soul. Laughter is contagious.

Parents and educators, create a moment for laughter and encourage children with ASD to share and participate in an optimal social opportunity.
