A young autistic woman from the U.K. described having autism like having a &#8220;<em>different operating system<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Can we run a Mac on windows operating system?<\/p>\n<p>When are people going to admit that having ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is &#8220;<em>a way of being<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Autism is not an illness, it is not a disease, AUTISM IS A CONDITON.<\/p>\n<p>Research is great and nobody minds finding a cure or a treatment. But most importantly, we have to help the spectrum population to live their life NOW.<\/p>\n<p>I hope the newly revised manual (appears May 2013) doesn&#8217;t take away services and supports that parents can&#8217;t provide by themselves. Speech, occupational therapy, (ABA) applied behavior analysis, social cognitive therapy ,&#8230;are crucial to the well-being of the spectrum population.
