For paraeducators who wish to learn more, here are the classes and workshops offered in this conference:<\/p>\n

The 16th<\/sup> Annual Paraeducator Conference is coming up\u00a0April 10-12, 2013\u00a0at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.<\/strong> Attached is a registration brochure offering a tentative list of classes available to attendees.<\/p>\n

\n

While this cutting-edge conference has always been open to anyone interested, classes were specifically designed around our paraeducators.\u00a0This year, for the first time, we have extended an invitation to all CSEA members\/school employees in theOffice\/Clerical\u00a0classification.\u00a0School secretaries and other clerical staff interact with students and parents on a daily basis.\u00a0These key staff members often meet kids in their most challenging moments when they are sent to the office.<\/p>\n

\n

The Para Conference provides in-depth workshops on dealing with students of varying behavior levels, communication skills and opportunities, bullying and autism (including Asperger Syndrome), dealing with at-risk youth, crisis management, ergonomics training, and dealing with difficult people, among many other topics.<\/p>\n

\n

There are several potential funding resources available to districts to sponsor attendance; please check with your Classified Personnel Department to explore options.<\/p>\n
