In this article I&#8217;ll try to re-introduce the subject in a simpler way.<\/p>\n<p>*Autism cannot be diagnosed or identified medically.<\/p>\n<p>*The screening tools are based on the information provided by the parents along with the professionals&#8217; observation of the child at different ages.<\/p>\n<p>*Autism is diagnosed according to criteria defined by the <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorder\/Fourth Edition\/Text Revision<\/span><\/em> (<strong>DSM-IV-TR<\/strong>). The American Psychiatric Association published this manual. Mental health professionals use it to diagnose mental disorders.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For <strong>infants,<\/strong> ask yourself the following questions<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1- Does your child respond to her\/his name when she\/he is called on?<\/p>\n<p>2- Does your child participate in a common interest? (Like watching an adult person holding a toy or doing a certain activity.)<\/p>\n<p>3- Does your child mimic or copy people?<\/p>\n<p>4-Does your child show emotions and empathy toward people?<\/p>\n<p>5- Does your child play make-believe games?<\/p>\n<p>If the answers to the above questions, or most of them, are &#8220;NO&#8221;, the parents should consider these signs seriously and do not delay to consult with the family doctor, or a pediatrician, or an experienced psychologist.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/autism-tips.com\/?p=1289\" target=\"_blank\">More Signs<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous article &#8220;Symptoms or Signs of Autism&#8220;, I provided some checklists and descriptions for parents who suspect that their children might have ADS (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
